LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) corrects nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism by reshaping the cornea, the clear front window of the eye, so light focuses where it should. With custom LASIK — Contoura® Vision or the newer WaveLight® Plus treatment — we map your cornea’s unique “fingerprint” and plan a treatment for your eye alone, aiming for the sharpest vision with the fewest side effects. Some eyes are a better match for standard wavefront-optimized LASIK, which also delivers excellent results. We price these treatments the same, so our recommendation is based only on what works best for your eyes.

What makes your LASIK treatment personalized?
Your treatment is planned from detailed maps of your cornea, for your eye alone. At Clear Vision Center we offer Contoura® Vision and WaveLight® Plus personalized treatments, plus standard wavefront-optimized LASIK for eyes that are a better match for it. Both deliver excellent results, and we price them the same, so we simply recommend the one with the best chance of success for you.
Am I a candidate for LASIK?
The best LASIK candidates are about 20 to 49 years old with a stable, mild-to-moderate amount of nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. Thin corneas, dry eyes, a high prescription or certain occupations can make another procedure a better choice. About 30% of the people we see for a LASIK consultation are better served by an alternative — or by no surgery at all — and we’ll tell you honestly which group you’re in.
Is LASIK safe?
In the right candidate, LASIK has a long, well-studied safety record. Most complications are avoided by careful screening, an experienced surgeon and modern laser technology — which is why our screening goes beyond the standard of care. We’ll review the risks with you in detail at your consultation so you can make an informed decision.
What are the side effects of LASIK?
Common, temporary side effects during healing include dry eyes, light sensitivity, blurry or fluctuating vision and mild redness. Artificial tears are recommended for a few weeks afterward to help your eyes restore their natural moisture. We review every common side effect and potential complication with you before you decide.
Does LASIK hurt, and how long does it take?

All four correct your vision; they differ in how. LASIK and SMILE Pro reshape the cornea with a laser, PRK treats the surface of the cornea, and EVO ICL adds a thin lens inside the eye without reshaping the cornea. I’m over 45 — is LASIK still right for me?
LASIK can still sharpen your distance vision in your 40s, but it can’t stop the age-related loss of near focus (presbyopia) that makes reading harder. If you already rely on readers, refractive lens exchange may be the better fit, because it corrects distance and reading vision in one procedure.
